Look closer it might be in the detail!

Sometimes when making images you really need to look for detail. In Westport Washington on the south side of the mouth of Grays Harbor there is a U.S. Coast Guard Station. Just next to the base is an area where abandoned Fishing stuff lies including an old boat near by I found this huge pile of old fishing nets, buoys and chains.

While this area itself seems rather boring I knew that by getting in close and walking around it I would be able to make at least a few good images. So armed with my tripod and a macro lens I spent the better part of a morning making images.

This image and many others we made that morning just by looking for the composition amongst the mess, one can find order in disorder.

It’s the Angle. A lot of images are made from the height of their creator, some times that is ok. I like to look at the world from all sorts of angels even if it means climbing to a height out side my comfort zone, or getting on my belly and crawling around in the dirt and rock. What ever it takes to make an interesting image. Looking at a flower from below or behind makes it more fun and creates some stunning results.
